Elitserien 08-09 Playoffs – Quarterfinals

by Chelsea

For anyone interested, there a couple Stars prospects currently playing in the Swedish Elite League’s postseason.

Philip Larsen, a 19-year-old defenseman from Denmark, is playing with Frölunda HC. His team won their series 4-1 against Luleå HF yesterday to advance to the second round. He had the first goal of the game in both Game 3 and Game 4.

Tom Wandell is playing with Timrå IK, who is currently leading their series with HV 71 3-2, with their next game on home ice. His line was broken up at the beginning of the series when they failed to produce, and he only has one point (an assist) in the five playoff games so far.

Wandell is up for the 08-09 Rookie of the Year award. Of the four nominated players, only Wandell’s team is still playing. Tomorrow’s game would be a prime opportunity for him to make his case and lead his team to the semifinals.
